KINOHIMITSU DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH

Kinohimitsu, recently partnered with Watsons Malaysia in launching an initiative focused on diabetic care during Diabetes Awareness Month in November. 

The official launch on November 15th at The Exchange 106 TRX, was aimed at raising awareness and addressing the increase in the prevalence of Diabetes in Malaysia, as well as to offer practical support through free blood glucose screening tests.

Government initiatives have come into play in tackling this issue. The Health Ministry of Malaysia (KKM), through the

Advocacy Plan launched in November 2023, has increased the tax on sugar, including premixed sugary drinks, to discourage excessive sugar consumption. The 2024 Budget also proposed raising the excise duty on sugary drinks further, from 40 sen to 50 sen per litre.

Furthermore, the National Plan of Action for Nutrition of Malaysia III (NPANM III), launched in 2016, outlines a comprehensive framework to promote healthy eating habits and reduce the

risk of chronic and non-communicable diseases like diabetes. Government agencies beyond the health sector are also actively participating in addressing the diabetes crisis. The Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri (KPDN) has collaborated with KKM on initiatives

The initiative and event which was held at Arena Watsons, The Exchange 106 TRX contributes and strengthens the ongoing collective effort to raise awareness and educate the public on diabetes prevention and management. Through expert sharing, free health screenings (available at 96 Watsons pharmacies), and product demonstrations, attendees gained valuable insights on adopting healthier lifestyles, as well as the benefits of incorporating dietary supplements into daily routines to support blood sugar control and overall well-being.
