Movie Review 2023 - Returning Home

My close friend and I had a great time watching Returning Home, a local Chinese movie which tells the story about the dedication of the heroes from the Civil Defence (APM), St John Ambulance (SJAM), Lions Clubs as well as Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (PBS) in a small town in Penang putting their lives on the line to save others during Malaysia`s Movement Control Order (MCO) lockdowns…

Sometimes other people forget that these “heroes” have their own families, too. These “heroes” are often called away for duty to protect and save other people while sacrificing much of their time away from their own families, and even to the point of neglecting them whilst their families await anxiously for their safe return. 

So… for Chinese New Year, will these heroes get to return home safely?

It’s not an adrenaline or action packed kind of movie, but rather a homey and touching story, almost tears inducing in some parts but also funny…. If you like a light hearted story reminding you of our unsung heroes who walk amongst us, do go give it a watch…
