The foundation is a catalyst for reducing food wastage while addressing the issues of increasing cost of living, especially for the poor or the B40s
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia aims to rescue surplus food from manufacturers, wholesalers, hypermarkets and hotel industries; and then sort and re-distribute it to the identified targeted B40 communities in higher learning institutions (IPT), charity homes, welfare centres and Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT)
YAYASAN FOOD BANK MALAYSIA (YFBM) which was established back on the 7 January 2019 is a Non-Profit & Non- Government Organization (NGO) that takes the lead in managing and aligning the Food Bank initiatives as part of the “inisiatif peduli rakyat” (caring nation) by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).
OBJECTIVE -
To coordinate, plan and carry out the collection of surplus food nationwide.
To collaborate with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as other related industrial players to create and enhance surplus food management system.
To help the underprivileged with easier access to food supplies while reducing cost of living.
MISSION -
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia targets "Zero Hunger" and "Zero Waste" through the halal and safe food supply in Malaysia…
VISION -
Becoming the Leader of Food Bank domestically and internationally by 2025.
Throughout 2020 and 2021, Malaysians as well as people from all over were plagued by the Covid-19 pandemic…. The protracted situation has made 2021 one of the most difficult years for all Malaysians and the world, with the most affected community being the B40 group.
Their quality of life was badly affected because of the loss of their source of income to support their families. Many industries and economic activities came to a standstill resulting in a huge of employment opportunities for the people.
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia operates on a large scale and actively tries to meet the needs of the community assisted and supported by caring corporate companies such as CIMB Foundation, Mi, Dunkin , Nandos, Bank Islam, McDonalds, DRB Hicom, Hogan, Fonterra, Massimo, Village Grocer, Nestle, Mondelez and the list goes on
These continuous contribution helps the yayasan to address the issue of food security for the said affected people...
Some of the Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia activities are also pretty challenging especially when the flood disaster hits several states of Malaysia… Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia tries their utmost best to assist the victims of the flood so that they can find their footing to continue living….
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia’s assistance is not limited to food items and basic necessities, but also covers home appliances, furniture, clothing, business equipments and more.
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia operates with full capacity of warehouse and office… Their warehouse has a racking system where donated items are segregated according to expiry dates and their operation follows the First Expiry, First Out rule….
The operation is assisted by equipments like jacking system, trolley, forklifts, chairs, sorting tables and waste management….
Besides ambient temperature food items, Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia also ready to receive chilled or frozen food anytime as they have their own chiller room too….
Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia is moving to their new premises /office beginning December 2022 which will be at :-
