Many prestigious watch makers claim to build watches designed for the military (and elite special forces), but hmmm, truth is I think most of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and yes, coasties don’t make the kind of cash necessary to quite afford a luxury watch…
So most of it are just marketing…. However, we all know that the military is a place where early is on time and if you are on time , it would already be considered late, so wearing a watch would be essential…
Laco, from Red Army Watches, on the hand is one of the original manufacturers of military pilot’s watches which has been around since 1925, thus officially cementing their place in history, capably strapped over the wrist of a thick leather flyer’s jacket on many military pilots presenting not only authentic replicas of the historical originals, but also modern interpretations.
Red Army Watches Malaysia is introducing this German timepiece brand’s two new pilot watches in a trendy military look which are the Augsburg Oliv 39 and Aachen Oliv 39 , both limited edition pieces which are each limited to just 250 pieces and present the classic typography of the famous observation watches with their dials in a refined shade.
The authentic vintage charm is underlined by the bronze colored case and the retro-look strap. The characteristic instrument look of the dial is not a design gimmick, but results from its history as a technical tool in the cockpit which was used for positioning and navigation as well as for many flight-specific calculations.
Until today, these timepieces radiate an elemental spirit of adventure and inspire explorers and individualists with an active lifestyle.
Laco is following up on the success of the Oliv 42 models launched last year, which sold out in a very short time. By reducing the case size by 3mm to 39mm, the watches have a much slimmer appearance and can also be worn on narrower wrists.
The stainless steel case is covered with a bronze colored PVD coating, and comes with a
"used look" character. The warm hue harmonizes expressively with the olive green dial. The natural tone provides a fitting
background for the strikingly matter-of-fact typography inspired by military units and special commandos…
The numerals, indexes and hands are coated with the luminous Superluminova “Old Radium", which has a brownish vintage tone during the day, but glows intensely green in the dark.
Precise drive is provided by the high - quality automatic movement Laco 21, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back.
It is based on the proven Miyota 821A caliber and offers a power reserve of 42 hours, as well as a stop - second function, which allows precise setting of the time. Optionally, Laco also offers the option of upgrading to the Laco 31 caliber.
This upgrade offers an increased power reserve of over 60 hours, as well as thermally blued screws as an additional visual highlight.
The distinctive “field watch" look is complemented by rugged vintage - look leather straps.
As a tribute to the history of the pilot watch, they are equipped with decorative rivets, which, like the buckle, once again pick up the color tone of the case
So, if you’re looking to get a new trendy military designed watch for your boyfriend, husband, brother, or if you like a rugged timepiece like I sometimes do, and would like to reward yourself, be sure to check out these new pilot watches from Laco….
