Having a home is one of the most basic and important human needs, but sadly not everyone has that...
There are many homeless people around Kuala Lumpur and when darkness falls, they rest under bridges, on the sidewalks and in the dark corners of the city...
However, hope is not lost for most of the unfortunates who want to better themselves...
It comes in the form of a social intervention centre or a halfway house kinda place meant to help the homeless in Kuala Lumpur as well as other parts of Malaysia...
You see... Anjung Singgah by YKN (Yayasan Kebajikan Negara) , is a project is implemented with the support of the Government to helping the homeless in providing temporary shelter, food, drinks and as helping to prepare these homeless people to get jobs and eventually back on their feet again...
Yours truly was over at Anjung Singgah on Jalan Hang Lekiu, Kuala Lumpur with the team from Sunway Putra Hotel...
Sunway Putra Hotel was here to work with the team from YKN to distribute bubur lambuk and packed food to 600 homeless individuals and underprivileged communities living in Anjung Singgah YKN Jalan Hang Lekiu, Anjung Kasih Hospital Selayang, Better Brighter Anjung Kasih Hospital Serdang and Pusat Pembelajaran Komuniti Jalan Chow Kit...
Anjung Singgah can accommodate up to 38 men and 38 women and is comfortably equipped with bathrooms, prayer rooms, a laundry area, a dining hall that can seat up to 100 people...
Meals are also provided to the less fortunate, who can stay in the centre for up to two weeks...
On the other hand Anjung Kasih YKN is a temporary accommodation for the less fortunate family members who need to accompany their relatives who are patients at government hospitals...
Being here made me aware of my own situation and also how I needed to be grateful for the little blessings that come my way...
alhamdullilah
