AK Balloon Run 4.0

The AK Balloon Run, which is organised by Avenue K Shopping Mall, is back for the fourth year and will be taking place on 13 August, 2017 at the main entrance of Avenue K.

AK Balloon Run is a seven-kilometre fun run that gathers participants from all walks of life to run with balloons throughout their run in celebration of happiness. The run will take place in the vicinity of the shopping mall along a scenic route within the city centre mainly via Jalan Pinang, Jalan Binjai and Jalan Mayang.

Yours truly joined last year's run and cannot wait to join this year's as well.. 

What makes the run special is that runners have to tie balloons to any part of their body throughout the 7km route. Each balloon represents 10 seconds.  Losing each balloon will incur time penalties from the runner’s official finishing time upon the completion of the race.  

“AK Balloon Run is an excellent platform for everyone to put aside the stresses of daily life and just have fun connecting with life and others in the run. We have runners from all walks of life getting into the spirit of togetherness to lend their support and participation into this signature event.

 With positive vibes, good times and camaraderie taking first place, this fun run also provides the community a chance to embrace a healthy lifestyle.  It will be a day full of fun, friendship and fitness and we look forward to sharing this with the community at large” said Phang Sze Sze, Deputy General Manager of Avenue K.

“Ever since its launch in 2014, AK Balloon Run has grown from just over 700 runners to over 2,000 runners today. We have seen repeat runners who have joined our run since the beginning. We take tremendous pride that such an iconic run has come to symbolise the coming together of communities and fostering nation building through sports. We wish all runners the best of luck and we look forward to welcoming them at the race”, she added.

Every runner will get a limited edition sling bag, race bib, dri-fit race shirt, balloons and other goodies from various sponsors such as Marigold, Brands, YoGood, GNC, Break Out, Salad Atelier, Caring Pharmacy, Ego Sports and Krispy Kreme. 

The first 200 participants who collect their race kit collection will be rewarded with Buy One Free One voucher from Chill Chill and complimentary work out session for 2 pax from Fitness First.  Finishers will take home a medal and can also download their e-certificate at www.akballoonrun.com. 

The top runners from each category will walk away with prizes worth up to RM20, 000.
