Children are more likely to be susceptible to infection and illness from these viruses, because they are less likely than adults to have antibodies and be immune from previous exposures to them. At present, there is no specific treatment available for HFMD.

Symptoms of HFMD include fever, poor appetite, malaise, and sore throat. After one or two days after the initial symptoms appear, painful sores will begin to develop in the mouth as small red spots which often may blister before they become ulcers. On top of that, non-itchy blister-like rashes would form on the hands, feet and mouth

Everyone is at risk of HFMD infection, but it happens mainly in children under 10 years old as they are more prone to infection.
