The Main Place Mall in USJ 21 recently hosted their second The Good Life Walkathon. It was held on 23rd October 2016, and it was an interactive and fun-filled Halloween-theme 5KM walkathon, with over 1,300 participants, which including children as young as 5 years old.
Yours truly had been excited over this event and had signed up for it but could not attend as I had a sponsored trip on that day too.... and therefore I was disappointed to have missed out on this...
This year, the Main Place Mall has turned so adorable with its Halloween decorations....Tell me you think they are not cute... Cannot right??? It is because they are just so adorable.. hahaha
Anyway for your information, the Main Place Mall is the first mall who organized a Halloween-themed walkathon in Malaysia.
Celebrity Fitness, one of Asia's largest health and fitness club operators, hosted the warm-up session, followed by a flag-off by Tan Sri Datuk Tee Hock Seng, Group Managing Director of Bina Puri Holdings Berhad and Dato' Ng Kee Leen, Director of Karak Land Sdn. Bhd. and Star Effort Sdn. Bhd., the subsidiary of Bina Puri Holdings Berhad.
The Good Life Walkathon – Halloween Edition raised RM 5,000 for the IQ70 Plus,
Malaysian Association for the Welfare of the Mentally Challenged Children. IQ70 Plus
provides an all-day comprehensive humane assistance for children with mental
disabilities and endeavors in building safe and open living space to offer the children the
superior conditions for healthy psychological growth.
The RM 5,000 sum was obtained through 10% of the proceeds from the event generated through ticket sales.
The donation was presented in the form of a cheque from the mall Management Director, Ms. Woo May Foong to Mr. Chang Ming Kiet, Chairman of the IQ70 Plus, in a special ceremony held on the same day. Woo May Foong said, "I would like to thank all the participants who is part of this charity, thanks for making it possible".
In this walkathon, there were two stations fully decorated with fun and exciting Halloween
decorations. The first station was decorated in an old library setting where the
participants had to walk through the flying storybooks and torn cloths. They were also
given the chance to check out the giant storybook.
There was also a “Count The Manny” contest where
participants tried their best to spot all the Manny(s) they can find along the walk.
Manny is Main Place
Mall’s iconic black cat mascot.
The prize
of RM150 Main Place Mall cash vouchers was then awarded to the 10 lucky winners who
answered correctly.
At the second station, participants enjoyed a change of scenery in a make believe pumpkin field with dry leaves scattering the ground and Halloween pumpkins, with rustic outdoor elements and a classic scarecrow.
Most of the participants are thrilled with the unique experience they got in their
first Halloween-themed walkathon and and it was also a great way spending quality time with their families and
friends while discovering what
healthy living entails.....

This is too cute! It's also great that it involved walkathons. It's a great way to commemorate Halloween in a more healthy way. It also makes for a good family bonding for that weekend!
