The Honor 8 is an elegant phone.. it is definitely smaller then my Huawei Mate 8 with a 5.2-inch screen instead of 5.5-inch.
It’s also pretty lightweight at just about 153 grams and
about 7.5mm slim. The glass back has multiple layers inside that reflect light
in interesting ways. You can get it in white, sapphire blue and gold. I got a
white one to try out and I have to say that the Honor 8 feels good in the hand.
It has smooth, rounded edges, and there aren't any bumps on
the phone, except for the buttons on the side. The back is said to be made up
of 15 layers of glass, which refracts light and gives the phone a shimmery
look. It's quite pretty and classy looking in my opinion…..
I like the fingerprint scanner which works quite fast and
accurate. However, the fingerprint scanner doubles up to what is also called a
Smart Key and you can supposedly set it to different things with a click,
double click or long press. The charging cable for the Honor 8 is however
different from all the other phones with a USB type-C with fast charging
support that kind of reminds me of iPhone…and so no you cannot use the one size
fit all regular cable to charge this phone
You will however find a bit slippery, so you have to be
careful of it and sadly it is hard to get a phone cover for this.
I was kind of disappointed that Honor did not include at
least a plastic/rubber cover to use…, unlike the vivo I had and the Huawei Mate
8 I have…
Honor 8 camera in normal mode |
I however must say that I like the new knuckle gestures
features on the phone. You can rap your knuckle against the screen, then draw a
letter or shape that are actually commands. Drawing an "m" pulls up
maps, a "c" the camera, "e" the internet and "w"
the weather. You can draw a square around your screen to take a screenshot,
too.
It takes some getting use to since I was already use to
doing this on my Huawei… and have my friends and family members stair at me
when I rap my knuckles on the phone, hahaha…

using the Honor 8 wide aperture photo mode.... |
I have to say my most favorite thing about the Honor 8 would
be the 12 MP dual-camera configuration with an f/2.2 aperture and hybrid
autofocus (laser assisted). One of the lens is suppose to capture color, while
the other is monochrome; but this setup allows the phone capture better,
crispier looking images.

With my mirrorless camera lense spoilt, the Honor 8 camera
helped me take pretty awesome and sharp images. I was quite impressed at it
using the panorama mode..... |
It probably might not outperform the Samsung Galaxy S7,
iPhone or Huawei P9, but I feel this is pretty great on its own. I have to say
that I also like the 8 MP front-facing camera .

I've been aiming for this model from Huawei, it's really nice smart phone :)
ReplyDeleteSo this honor phone is a Huawei, right? I must have missed the thought. I was amazed by the phone. hahaha I thought honor is a new brand. Anyhow, I am sure this is something to look forward in Philippines as well. Also, for the Vivo, I have seen on here. So that means, honor 8 can possible be here anytime soon.
