Don't you just love those rich yummy flavour lava cheese tarts that is light and crumbly and comes with a fluffy soft cream cheese filling that sometimes will ooze out when you bite into it?
Yeah, I think it is one of the craze that has hit Malaysia as well considering the amount of cheese tart shops popping up here and there....
Anyway yours truly was over at the Village Grocer at the SS15 Courtyard, very close to the SS15 LRT station...where I had the opportunity to see Chef May Foo create one of the world's best cheese tarts by cleverly using the very best New Zealand ingredients....
Chef Foo said she looked at ingredients from all around the world and settled on New Zealand dairy, which includes Anchor butter, cream and cream cheese as she wanted something rich but also healthy and she liked the fact that the readiness came from happy hands-free cows, and the ingredients are all fully traceable..
So, what is so special about Chef May Foo's cheese tarts??
#There are 2 different Anchor cheese used to create the filling.. cream cheese and parmesan cheese...
#The tarts are sold in bite sized and baked fresh daily...
#There are four variants being sold- Original, Golden Lava (with salted egg yolk), Matcha and Tiramisu...
#All the tarts use fully traceable ingredients from New Zealand...
#These tarts range from just RM3.50 per piece...
And yes, if you want to try your hand on creating your own cheese tarts, you can buy the Anchor dairy products at Village Grocer and create your own tarts... you can also make apple tarts and nutty chocolate tarts using New Zealand Apple's, Pic's peanut butter and Whittaker's Dark Ghana chocolates....
However, if you are lazy and want it the east way, like me, just head over to your nearest Village Grocer's bakery...
As a launch special, you can now get 1 tart free for every 5 tarts purchased, so a box of 6 yummilicious tarts only cost you RM15.....
The promotion is available at all Village Grocer outlets... for more info, check out

ReplyDeleteI loveeee anything from New Zealand. I may be bias though since I lived there for 12 years hehe. Everyone asks about how good the milk and dairy products are hehe.
ReplyDeleteI was kinda expecting for a recipe. :p I love how you described the lava cheese tarts, I hope from the photos and ingredients used that it's not too difficult to make. I don't bake myself but my little niece would probably like to try making this one. What is that green filling? Is it just food coloring or a flavor like matcha?
ReplyDeleteWow I love cheese!Hopefully I can make it myself
