Recently I got ‘cheated’ by a company. The company is a big company (and no, I am not disclosing the name of the company... I still have the decency to cover and protect the company’s name despite having them ‘cheat’ me)
What happened was the
company has requested our presence along with a few other bloggers. Some were
offered reimbursement, and I was one of those who were offered reimbursement
(of a certain amount)…
Now if you are a blogger
from a rich family, or have plenty of money in your bank account, maybe it does not matter to you,
but I am a blogger from the lower middle class family and lately I have been
assailed with family health issues from my husband (who had stroke twice last
year), my mother (who is suffering from thyroid cancer and needs RAI
treatments) and even my mother in law (who is having frequent respiratory
problems), and this does not include my children and the animals that depend on
me… the bills I have to pay etc, etc, etc and so yes, every cent counts….
So, because of the
agreement for reimbursement, I attended the event and sent on my invoice and
bills directly to them and they told me that they will process it…
Suddenly, out of the
blue a few days ago, I received a call from them saying that the reimbursement
was against the company policy and they are not going to reimburse me whatever
I paid for and they will just give me some products (which they say is worth
more then what they were suppose to reimburse me)
Was I frustrated? You
bet I was… but well, I am not one of them who wants to kick up a big fuss… so I
am just venting my frustrations here…and well, companies who promise bloggers
payments should fall through since we bloggers are all free lancers and need
money to survive as well… money don’t simply fall from the sky you know……
To whomever is reading
this… thanks for listening… LOL

a deal is a deal and it's a shame you had to 'work' with such unethical people
ReplyDeleteexactly... it is unfair to us especially when we deliver what was promised and they do not...
DeleteWhat?? A deal is a deal. This is so unprofessional. I would have been furious if I were you too. It's not about the money. That isn't the issue. The issue is they promised to reimbursed you and they didn't!

Exactly... and it hurts more when you are hard pressed for the money.. but well, gets just consider it a stroke of bad luck and I lost it...
DeleteIm sorry to hear about your bad experience while you were doing you best to get along with your living. I'm new to this industry, this is a good exposure for me that at least such issues could be avoided in future. Thank you for spreading the awareness, cheers!
ReplyDeleteYeah.. you really HAVE to be careful there are a few unethical people around..
DeleteI had a worst experience than you. I received an email inviting me to do a food review at their cafe. I replied to them asking if i can bring my 2 kids there. They said they will reserve a table. When i was there and ordered food, they said they have only 1 chef and there are so many orders. They cannot serve me and if i really want, i need to go another day. That really pissed me off. They were the ones who sent me email invitation and they didn't get any food prepared. After they asked me to order, they said cannot serve me! Crazy people.
ReplyDeleteSome of these people just want free publicity I guess and do not want to honour their offers... they are terrible.. I am sorry you had to go through this too
DeleteOh yikes! That's a big big trouble. Why not pursue a case re the matter? I'm really curious right now who's this company. You have the email transaction and you can use this as your fault
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess I could.. it is just that I do not quite like making fusses.. huhuhu
DeleteIt was pretty unethical for the company to go back on their word Miera dear and I am so sorry you had to go through the experience :( As it is stated in black and white, they should already know well on their company policy before proposing the event beforehand, so its best to address it with them soonest to sort it out for products can't reimburse for your cost on top of the coverage you are providing for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the advice.. I will look into it
