Yours truly was invited over to the Nelayan Restaurant which
was located along Jalan Gombak. It was to celebrate Ramadan with a spirit of
giving and sharing with members of the media as well as the orphans from Raudhatul
Al Faez.
The venue looks pretty spacious and can easily seat up to 1000 to 1500 pax at any one time and the buffet food is reasonably pretty good.
There was a lovely small spread of buffet dishes consisting of rice, fried rice/ butter rice, Sambal Sotong, Daging Rendang, Stir fried Vegetables, Kerabu / Malay mixed Salad, Stir fried Chicken with Ginger (Ayam Masak Halia), Mixed Vegetables and so on…
There were also some pudding and jellies, cakes to tempt your palate...
And you could see Roti John being made as well as a roast lamb being BBQ-ed there at the feast..
Not forgetting these ingredients to make our own BBQ or Steamboat/ Hot pot…Surimi, Fishballs, Fishcakes, vegetables, prawns etc....
For steamboat/ Hot Pot, you can have a choice of either Chicken Soup or Tom Yum soup, I opted for the latter and I liked the taste as the Tom Yum is pretty flavourful.
Some local celebrities were there to show support as well as enlivened the atmostphere, such as Man
Raja Lawak, Achong, Sweet Child and Sheeda to name a few…
Overall, I think it is a pretty decent place to bring your family to
break fast as it is also pretty affordable but you might have to excuse that the
place is in the midst of half being renovated as well as repaired after having recently been taken over by a new management under the Felcra umbrella.
I also like that the restaurant has a policy that they will
charge RM16 per 100gm for wastages as I believe sometimes we misbehave when
taking food and end up wasting them… so hopefully this policy will make people
stop and think before they act selfish and take what they cannot even finish…
Muslims can rest assured that there is a place to pray as well provided...
The buffet is also pretty affordable at just RM35 per adult
and free for kids 6 years and below… as for those between 6-12 years old and
the elderly folks, they only pay 50% of the RM35… so it is quite a good deal!!!
