So yours truly and her mini me were both at the APW Bangsar to check out the AirAsia and AirAsiaX #GREEN24 community event that was held there... We brought along a couple of bags of recyclables and dropped it off at the collection corner in return for a lovely AirAsia #Green24 shopping bag and a t-shirt.... How cool was that....
Anyway, other then the collection of recyclables items, there was even a marketplace where environmental organisations were gathered to promote climate action and help educate those who wanted to know more on how we could play our part in saving our dear mother earth....
It was definitely a fun filled few hours there at the APW.. In case you do not know what it is... APW@Bangsar was the venue sponsor for this event.. But APW had long history of being a printing plant which has now been transformed into an eclectic event venue with raw industrial concept, so it was really interesting to see old printing machines, other machines and all at certain corners of the place...
There were free seedlings and plants that were being given away by the Free Tree Society and they even thought visitors basic planting skills to care for their plant at home...
Free Tree Society KL is a 100% volunteer run. Volunteers learn as they work -basic gardening skills, landscaping, propagation methods, vermi-composting, composting and more...If you are interested , you can join every Tuesday and Saturday as a volunteer too at the FTSKL nursery in Bangsar....
The AirAsia Foundation here is a philanthropic arm of the AirAsia Group and they were featuring two grantees, which were APE Malaysia and Muser Coffee. What APE Malaysia does is that they upcycle used clothes and other items into pet toys and Muser Coffee brings us fresh sustainably-produced coffee from Muser Hills in Thailand....
The Biji-biji Initiative here is a social enterprise that aims to share progressive ideas with everyone. They champion sustainable living, reuse waste creatively and they even upcycle old seat belts, banners, clothes and other things into fashionable bags and accessories...
And how these creepy crawlies (earth worms and maggots/ fly larvae) are actually our friends and helpers when it comes to helping with making our soil and waste more environmental friendly...
The event was of course enlivened up Popular YouTubers and HitzFM announcers Jinnyboy and also his partner Reuben from JinnyBoyTV as the celebrity host for the day.......
As well with performances by Noh Salleh, Joe Flzzow and SonaOne, and well, the lovely Neelofa who made her special appearance as seen here with the lovely CEO of AirAsia, Aireen Omar...
Aireen Omar said," The #GREEN24 movement was launched as a regional initiative across Asean and beyond to raise the profile of climate change effects in this part of the world. We can change climate change , and we truly believe that the lifestyle change should really start from ourselves an we need to make sure people around us are environmentally conscious, reduce wastage and take active steps in conserving the environment...."
Naturally, the event won't have been successful without the hard work of these gorgeous AirAsia ladies as well.......who we AABC members have been lucky to meet and work with.....
Throughout the region, all of AirAsia's offices are carrying out activities aimed at rising awareness to combat climate change. In Kuala Lumpur, this event is a platform where the community can get together, take active steps by sending recyclable items to the AirAsia team there , learn and experience ways to conserve the environment. AirAsia has taken proactive steps in their operations to ensure that they reduce their carbon footprint.....
Tadaa... a selfie with the lovely Neelofa...
My mini me is thrilled to bits meeting and getting a pic taken with SonaOne here....
... as well as both Jinnyboy and Reuben....whom she loves watching over YouTube...
All across Malaysia, all AirAsia offices are conducting activities such as beach, park and hill cleanups as well as recycling drives to promote good environmental habits among staff and the public.
Thai AirAsia staff held a community beach cleanup, while offices in Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia held educational programs about recycling.
Yours truly and her minime also did our part recycling all those plastic bottles and stuff around the house, cleaning the little hillock area at our neighbourhood, saving water and sending items we do not want for recycling...
I also believe in selling your unwanted items over Carousell, Ebay, Bazaars, Carboot Sales and shopping there too as it is so much fun finding items you like at cheap prices .. remember one man's trash is another man's treasure and I cannot tell you how many times I found amazing buys at Carboot Sales and Bazaars... branded items for just a tiny fraction of the prices.. and most are in like excellent condition... my latest purchase was a pair of Clarks leather slip ons that would cost me RM300++ at the store.. I got it for just RM40 and it was just used twice...
Of course, I also sell my unwanted stuff so I can get some extra money that can be handy for travel or buying other things....and it is also part of recycling....
Anyway, we really must do our part for mother nature ... every little bit, if done by a lot of people make quite a huge difference... so let's each all do a little bit every day....
