Yours truly here was really over the moon when she got a pair of invites from Sunway Lagoon to watch the MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015. My tween daughter was even more excited when I told her we would be heading there to watch the concert.
This would have been the second concert she has seen, the first one being Simple Plan, and all at the tender age of 11... when I was her age and even a few years older, I never manage to go to a concert before in my life... That is how lucky she is.
So here I am sharing some pictures and happenings on that night. You have to forgive me for the not so awesome pictures because of three reasons...or excuses... There was no camera allowed... I took the photos on my mobile phone... and since my phone is just the average range one, not the top of the range ones, the photos are just acceptable.. and the VIP area where I was was quite a distance away from the stage...
So these are just my pathetic best efforts....
Anyway, I was at the registration counter and I was both delighted and relieved when both Anne (my daughter) and I were given VIP passes in. The crowd queuing just to go in was humongous...There were easily more then 10,000 people!!!
My little girl and I were escorted inside and shown to our place to the Surf Pool. The first thing on my mind was , "Where did all the water go.....". The Surf Pool was devoid of all its many gallons of water as it all got drained out...
Ok, you have to forgive me but it was the first time I actually seen the Surf Pool devoid of all water...
Anyway, my little girl and I chilled at the picnic tables scattered around the VIP area, and went to get some of the free snacks and free drinks given... which included sandwiches, sausages, jelly and soft drinks... For over 18 non Muslims, there was even beer served...
My little girl and I went on to make a video to post on Instagram, ok, it was a very cheesy and ridiculous one, but it got us some MTV goodies (plastic specs and also a light up MTV ring)
It was about 7.40pm or so when MTV VJs Alan Wong and Hani Hoefer sporting bright pink hair appeared and started interacting with the crowd...
There were questions and answers, games and loads of free stuff thrown to the crowd. At this point of time I felt a little strange realizing that we VIPs were all seemingly at the back of the venue, instead of the front, but this is probably because of comfort.. it couldn't have been to comfortable at the front with so many people squeezing in and also probably pushing and shoving...
VJs Alan Wong and Hani Hoefer got in a few selfies with the huge crowd as well...
Then our Malaysian Most Wanted act , Stacy appeared in a gothic kind of outfit and opened the show...
All the while there was a blimp and a drone going around taking aerial videos and photos of the concert , the crowd and all...
It was a very exciting event with the lights and strobes, lots of music and fun...
Japanese group Sekai no Owari delighted all present when its lead
singer Fukase strung perfect Malay sentences to greet the crowd, as well as telling
them he enjoyed having satay, assam laksa and char koay teow earlier that day....
Starting out as an indie band originating from Tokyo back in 2007, SEKAI NO OWARI performed their first live concert with only 15 people attending. Fukase, vocalist, named the band Sekai no Owari because "Once you've experienced the bottom (the negative side of your life), you have to find a way to go up (the positive side). So I named my band End of the World to create the strength [I needed] through the music."
Sekai no Owari consists of four members: Nakajin, Fukase, Saori, and DJ LOVE....
I found their music pretty unique and nice and would definitely add it to my play list....
Next up after Sekai no Owari was the Korean 6-piece all-girl group Apink, who entertained all with their deft dance movements in their repertoire, ending their segment with
their latest single, Remember.
Apink, in case you do not know who they are, are a South Korean girl bubble gum pop group formed by A Cube Entertainment in 2011.
The group consists of Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Jung Eun-ji, Son Na-eun, Kim Nam-joo and Oh Ha-young.
Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Carly Rae
Jepsen finally appeared after some intermission while her crew set up the stage with her segment with Run Away With Me, the second and latest single
from her highly anticipated new album, E·MO·TION.
The Canadian singer showed off her fun and bubbly side throughout her entire set, and most of the crowd cheered and sang to her chart-topping track, Call Me Maybe.
Carly Rae Jepsen then ended her nine-track set with a very lively performance of everyone's favourite, I Really Like You
When Carly Rae Jepsen finished her set, my daughter and I left as well as it was getting pretty late and since it was quite a distant from Sunway Lagoon to Gombak, and I was not driving, I pulled my daughter gently away from the venue. She left dissatisfied, because she did not get to see Jason Derulo...
However before we left, she had the chance to take a picture with model Kit Mah whose Watson's So Syok video went viral....
I heard there was a long intermission and it was about 10.30pm before the other most anticipated act, Jason Derulo appeared...
Jason
Derulo finally showed up then and sang In My Head as his opening song...

Despite the heat and haze that was still visible into the night,
nothing would bring down the obvious high spirits of those present there.

Jason Derulo sang 14 tracks including his hit single Watcha Say and his latest worldwide hit, Want to Want Me much to the delight of his fans...
