Chicken so delicious and spicy it brings tears to the eyes........

My younger daughter and I broke our fast with a few other bloggers at the Pelicana Premium Chicken outlet at eCurve Damansara on Saturday. 

There are quite a number of fried chicken franchises from Korea that have since reached our Malaysian shores. You can find plain “original recipe” chicken, a chicken doused with various seasonings (savoury, sweet, spicy), drumsticks only, wings and drummettes only, a combination of both, and so on...

Korean fried chicken comes minus the thick flour batter-dipped skin, making it “lighter” and very much less greasier then the regular fried chicken. And, it is truly addictive.

Pelicana is the supposedly one of the oldest chicken franchise. They are also known for their Yang Nyeon Chicken, especially the Hot Spice Yang Nyeon... The Koreans call this ‘bul dak’ (불닭, fire chicken) because the level of  spiciness can really induces tears and a fiery mouth. If you like hot and spicy food, the hotter the better – this is for you. 

And, if you are an avid fan of "My Love from The Stars" you will spot Pelicana Chicken in the drama as well!!!!

Anyway, Pelicana Premium Chicken outlet is located On Level 1 of the eCurve  (Next to IKEA) ( Lot 1-43, Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya) Tel: 03-7732 0087

It is a corner outlet opposite the world of Sports but if you go up the first floor with the elevator on your left just upon entering eCurve, you will not miss it! The ambience is cozy because the outlet is not that big.

To start off your meal, you can order from Mocktails Series which comes in various choices which are the Maracuja Pineapple, Passion Fruit Peach, Forest Maracuja, Apple Maracuja and Apple Rose... for just RM8.50 each

First up on our table was the Peli Crunchy Chicken (Original Crunchy) It costs about  RM56.50 for a dozen pieces.... This was pretty nice... very crunchy and yummy

I liked the Original Peli Yang Nyeon Chicken.. it was definitely well seasoned and well flavored and it was tasty.... Then there was also the Spring Onion Peli Yang Nyeon Chicken, which is I think, seasoned with some wasabi, though it does not have the kick of the wasabi, I did not fancy this because I am so not a fan of wasabi, but this might appeal to those who like wasabi....I think

Charcoal BBQ Peli Yang Nyeon Chicken is nice as well... I would definitely order this in my next visit to Pelicana....

But my favourite of the Yang Nyeon Chicken series should be the Hot Spice Peli Nyeon Chicken!!! This chicken however is not to be trifled with if you cannot eat spicy... My daughter was shocked into tears...LOL... It was definitely the first time I saw tears coming out from her eyes because of food but as spicy as it was, she loved it...

Anyway, the Hot Spice Peli Yang Nyeon Chicken and all the other Yang Nyeon Chicken series I mentioned above are priced at RM32.90 for 14 pcs....And these are all drummets and wings...

If you need some sides to go along with your chicken, you can order the Musaengchae (Seasoned Radish) - this is very much like the "acar" we eat with nasi beriyani only, it is made from radish whereas the "acar" from pineapple, cucumber, carrots and onions... or the Miyeok Muchim (Seaweed Salad) - I liked this as it was slightly seasoned and seaweed is very healthy!!! Be sure to order the Korean Fragrant Rice with black sesame & seaweed as well for a more fulfilling meal or for those of you who cannot go without rice... hehehe.... all these are just RM4.50 each!!

Craving for a burger? You should really try out the Peli Jumbo Fillet Burger that is pretty affordable and reasonably priced for just RM15.50!!  There is also the Peli Spicy D’ Fish Burger (also available in not spicy version: Peli D’ Fish Burger) for just RM13.90 each!!!

If you are with your family, and looking for a place to breakfast, you might like to consider going for the Ramadan Platters... They have a Ramadan Platters Special for 6 pax for just RM98.90, which consist of 3 pcs Crunchy Biggie Drum, 3 pcs Crunchy Wings, 12 pcs of Yang Nyeom Chicken, 9 pcs of Chick D'Nuggets, 2 French Fries, 3 Choco Pies,  3 Korean Fragrant Rice, 3 Side Dishes and 6 soft Drinks !!!! Real good value!!! You will be saving up to 33% off the actual price!!

There is also a smaller platter for 4 pax.... 

Need some dessert or something refreshing after all the chicken and spices? Check out their Smoothies Series where you can have a choice of some pretty delicious and healthy Forest Fruit Yogurt, Pineapple Maracuja Yogurt, Caramelised Apple Peach Yogurt or Pina Colada (Pineapple coconut) for just RM10.90 each... or go for the Affogato solo for only RM7.90.

Would I come back here to eat? Yes, absolutely... I love the Peli Yang Nyeon Charcoal BBQ and Hot Spice Chicken most of all and I would definitely want more of those!!!!
