It was a lovely warm Sunday morning, as I made my way to the Berjaya Times Square to join another 80 AirAsia bloggers brought in from all over Malaysia and also Singapore, for this amazing AABC Hangout at the Escape Room here.
I have never been to any Escape Room before and well, I was definitely nervous but all geared up to explore the unknown, but excited at the prospect of meeting other familiar blogger friends as well as getting to know a few new bloggers from other places...
The buntings that got my heart pounding further.... |
When I arrived there, my heart sank when I saw the themed rooms posters.... they definitely looked scary ... gulp.... I had my fingers crossed with the hope that my team would get a not-so-scary room...
We were then given a sticker and told to write our names and decorate it to our best ability with the colored markers provided.
While waiting for all the other bloggers and people to arrive, we naturally took the opportunity to take some photos at the photo wall ...

.... as well as took some time to enjoy our light snacks... consisting of sandwiches and mineral water before the event started...
Yours truly at the entrance of the Escape Room |
It is always so much fun meeting blogger friends and bloggers you have met before at other events, and it is through these sort of events, we make new friends or get reacquainted with other not so known friends ...and create a new bond of sorts...

With all blogger pals...and also Projek Travel bloggers.... |
Then the event started... with some warm up exercises. There were a total of 18 teams of 3-4 people each. I was originally assigned to Team 3 but chose to join Team 14 which consisted of top travel blogger friend Tatie and also another blogger Daus, who I just got to know...
Warm up before the games..... |
After the warm up, we were divided into two other teams... meaning team 1-10 went into the Escape Rooms first. There were about 10 different rooms with different themes, such as The Cage, The Vampire Chronicles, Haunted House, Jungle Safari, Wonderland , Escape Malaysia, Taken and so on....
After doing a draw, our team got The Gallery... I was breathing a sigh of relief that it would not be a scary room but was then told that it was a very hard to figure room... and that got us all worrying again...
Nevertheless, our team were all ushered to another floor where there were three different station games we had to play...
Two games... blindfold hunt for the key and a three way tug of war |
the key must be used to open this box.... |
We agreed that Daus would give us the instructions, so both Tatie and I were blindfolded... and were then went fumbling to hunt for the keys while listening to Daus instructions and directions....
Blindfolded.... gulp..... |
The games were pretty fun and we got full marks for both the blindfolded key hunt and the drawing game and were disappointed when we only got one mark for the three way tug of war.
Then it was time to enter the Escape room...
Inside the gallery.....with secrets behind the pictures and clues |
We followed the marshal into the room after being briefed on what to do and what not to do and were locked inside the dimly litted room with just a couple of torchlights in between the three of us.
In every room there were two clues and we had to break the clues before moving on to the next room...

The second room was hard.. we had a hard time trying to open the door to the next room because we could not crack the code and need to ask for help.

In the third room we were also at loss as to how to break the code to open the safe.... but after getting assistance, we manage to crack the code and rush out as the fourth completed team....

While waiting for all the other teams to come out from the room, we went to have some food which was pretty yummy nasi lemak , curry chicken with roti jala and lovely apple strudles...
Team 14 |
Then the top three winners were announced but there was a tie and there was only to be one winning team... all three teams including my team were on tenterhooks wanting to win the challenge but the tie breaking question was quite hard....
Tie breaking question.... |
Fortunately, I managed to answer the last question after the third clue ahead of the rest and my team won!!!!
