It was a bright and cheery morning – and the weather had
little to do with it! Over 70 youth aged between 10 and 15 years old, along
with coaches of the Puchong Rovers Football Club arrived in full gear at the
Bukit Puchong field for a football clinic specially organised by Bukit Hitam
Development Sdn Bhd, developer of the Bukit Puchong Township.
Psyching them up further was the football clinic’s
facilitator - football pundit and former international player for Australia and
Singapore, Abbas Saad, dubbed “The Asian Beckham”.
Excitement was certainly in the air as the faces of
participants lit up with excitement, determination and focus. Together with the
Puchong Rovers’ coaches, Abbas Saad imparted very practical and useful
pointers, and also demonstrated some cool tricks to the delight of the kids on
the field. After the educational yet fun clinic sessions, a friendly mini
tournament was held, during which the youths took on the challenge to put into practice
their newly learnt skills.
Bukit Hitam Development’s General Manager, Edward Lee, was
thankful for the participation of Abbas Saad and the Puchong Rovers Football
Club. “It is indeed inspiring to see a group of passionate individuals setting
aside time to coach and nurture our youth. A lot of useful insights and tips were
imparted to these leaders of tomorrow at the clinic to not only develop their hidden
talents, but also build up their character in the process,” he said.
Bukit Hitam Development is not only looking to transform
Bukit Puchong into an integrated and self-sustainable township, but the company
also intends to see a dynamic transformation within its community.
Lee was elated with the turnout and expressed that he is
especially impressed by the determination of the youths to enhance their skills.
“I hope clinics like these will help boost our sports
industry, and perhaps from this clinic we may have even just moulded our own
‘Malaysian Beckham’”, he quipped.
