Hari Raya Aidil Adha is a time for sacrifices, as it is known as the Festival of the sacrifice, is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. It honors the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his promised son, Ishmael (Ismail), as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
On this day, middle class will Muslims chip in together to buy a cow or goat or camel and the richer , upper class Muslims might donate a whole cow or two, and it will be taken to the mosque, where after the morning Raya prayers, these animals will be sacrificed. The meat from the sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The family retains one third of the share; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is given to the poor and needy.
Normally on Hari Raya Aidil Adha, my husband's family will gather together at my mother in law's house for breakfast or is it brunch before going elsewhere, but this year, she opted to follow her younger brother to Fraser's Hill, so my husband, me and our little girl went to my sister in law's home for brunch instead.
These were what was served... Lodeh, Sambal Goreng, Lemang, Chicken Curry, Beef Rendang , Ketupat Palas and Ketupat. Cooked by my sister in law and my niece...Thanks so much for the lovely meal..
My little cutiemonkee enjoying her meal....
Relaxing after a full stomach at her auntie's home....
After that, it was time to go to our second destination, my husband's ex wife and in law's home. This probably sounds weird but we do that every year for Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Aidil Adha and we all have a fabulous relationship together with one another.
There, we had more rendang, kuah satay, chicken and vegetables too including nasi beriyani
Here is my gorgeous step daughter.... isn't she lovely..
Anyway... Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha to all Muslims celebrating... and Maaf Zahir Batin...
cute pics :D
